Once again, Justitiapriset goes to Delphi for their commitment to equality

Justitiapriset 2021 goes to Delphi with the following motivation:

This year’s winner of Justitiapriset is rewarded for their continuity, stability, perseverance and authenticity in their work on gender equality. The law firm has convincingly translated words into results, and it is clear how the gender equality work permeates the entire operation. The firm has a well-thought-out structure to combat discrimination and promote gender equality. The jury especially appreciates how the firm has created a culture of openness and security in these matters, something that is confirmed by the employee survey. Because of all that, the jury is pleased to award Justitiapriset 2021 to Delphi.

Justitiapriset is given to the commercial law firm that is doing the best work on equality. Delphi received the award for the first time in 2017, which was the first time the award was handed out. Delphi’s Partner Agnes Hammarstrand has also received the individual award Årets Justitia 2019 for her significant contributions to gender equality in the legal industry.

In the survey, law firms that choose to participate get to answer a questionnaire about their work with equality. The survey is analyzed by the market-leading gender equality company Add Gender and addresses issues of structure, culture, balance and work against sexual harassment. The surveys are then anonymized before proceeding to a carefully selected jury group who vote and nominate a winner.

– We are very proud to receive the industry’s perhaps most important award. We want to take the lead in changing the unequal culture that has remained in the legal profession. Equality is not only an obvious issue of fairness, but also necessary for the success for both us and our clients, says Stefan Erhag, Executive Partner at Delphi.

Although the part of women in leading positions in the legal profession is increasing, an overwhelming majority of men are still partners at the larger commercial law firms today. Barely two out of ten partners are women. At the same time, more women than men are studying law and graduating from school.

– We have been working actively with equality issues at management team level for several years now because we have experienced that it is a challenge to attract and retain female employees long enough for them to reach senior positions and therefore the opportunity for partnership. We work intensively to achieve a more inclusive culture where both women and men thrive and see a future, says Stefan Erhag.

At Delphi, equality is a constant topic at all board meetings and staff meetings, as it is an issue that always must be prioritized and addressed. Delphi has set clear goals and works strategically towards them. For example, the firm has frequent trainings and workshops on themes such as unconscious bias and inclusive corporate culture. Delphi is also inspired by companies beyond the legal industry that have succeeded well in these matters. Furthermore, all the firm’s partners are evaluated annually by employees to what extent they have contributed to a more equal culture. All employees also evaluate themselves annually on how they consider themselves to contribute to a more equal culture.
